The range of
Superoots Air-Pot Kits has been extended to include 12.5 litre,
20 litre and 25 litre sizes. In light of the success of the bigger
35litre and 45 litre Air-Pot Kits, and in response to customer demand,
the Caledonian Tree Company designed and manufactured the three
new sizes ready for potting this spring. Advanced orders of 200,000
Air-Pot kits in the 12.5 litre size - or 3 gallon, as it is called
in the USA - have been made by Cherrylake Tree Farm in Florida for
2002. If the first year's production is a success, the nursery will
steadily convert all its container activity to Superoots Air-Pots.
Cherrylake already uses 15, 30 and 50 gallon Air-Pots.
The 20 litre
Air-Pot Kit was introduced by request from a new British customer,
whose initial trials suffered no losses. The nursery will be launching
its new range in 2003.
Growers of large
semi-mature trees and landscape companies who have to hold large
trees above ground for summer planting are also delighted by the
introduction of an Air-Pot 900mm deep (where previously the maximum
was 600mm). This allows the largest rootballs to be wrapped in Air-Pot
material, making containers with a capacity of 1200 - 5000 litre
(plus).
All Superoots
Air-Pots have been significantly improved, with a new process at
the factory, which cuts a regular hole in the cones of the Air-Pot
walls ensuring a consistent air-content in the container. It also
makes the Air-Pot a much better looking product at the nursery.
In order to form a 'reservoir' at the top of the Air-Pot and to
prevent any unnecessary loss of water when irrigating, there are
no holes in the top two rows of cones. And the holes at the base
of the container are bigger to allow greater air circulation here
where humidity can be greatest.
There are also
two new fixings to choose from when buying Air-Pots, both of which
can be mechanically or manually fitted: the bigger one is designed
to assemble the heavier material, and the second smaller one is
designed to assemble the lighter Air-Pot Kits. They improve the
assembly process dramatically and make it child's play. Both are
in Superoots green.
